Mathematica is searching for a Medicaid Financial Data Analyst with interest in Medicaid policy and programs at either the state or federal level to support current and emerging analytics work. The Medicaid Financial Data Analyst will likely be connected to 1-3 projects at a time, with many projects requiring work with multidisciplinary teams and direct client contact. Projects may span across several policy and programmatic areas: Medicaid enrollment, managed care programs, value-based purchasing and alternative payment models, long-term services and supports, measures of delivery and quality of services for beneficiaries, and outcomes of innovative programs and policies.Across all projects, the Medicaid Financial Data Analyst is expected to:Lead or participate actively and thoughtfully in project teams that work on the financial impact and sustainability of Medicaid policies and programsApply rigorous analytic thinking to the collection, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative dataDevelop expertise in Medicaid data, policy, and programmatic areasSpecific project activities may include:Assisting with quantitative analyses using Medicaid enrollment, claims/encounter, financial and program data to support program monitoring, improvement, or evaluationParticipating in decisions regarding analysis design and methodologyReviewing policy, program, and/or data documentation to develop technical specifications for analysesWorking with developers to compile and analyze dataInvestigating data to identify data quality issues, patterns, or other findingsTranslating analysis findings into actionable information to support clients in making data-driven decisions regarding Medicaid policies and programsProviding technical assistance to federal and state Medicaid stakeholders to support the implementation of data collection, monitoring, and reporting programsAuthoring client memos, technical assistance tools, issue briefs, chapters of analytic reports, user manuals, and webinar presentations summarizing findings

Position Requirements:

Master’s degree or equivalent in data analytics, public policy, economics, statistics, finance, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in a financial analyst, actuarial, auditing, or similar roleExperience conducting quantitative analysis work in a health setting, with experience in Medicaid preferredStrong foundation in quantitative analysis, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and high attention to detailFamiliarity with Medicaid enrollment, claims, financial, or program data is preferredExcellent Microsoft Excel skillsExcellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to write clear and concise policy and/or technical memos and documents for diverse stakeholder audiences including program administrators and policymakersDemonstrated ability to work on multidisciplinary teamsStrong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail; flexibility to manage multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadlinesPlease submit a cover letter and resume. Please click the 'Apply Now' icon after the position description to attach your documents.This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $70,000 - $95,000.Staff in our Health unit will eventually work with our largest client, Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS). Most staff working on CMS contracts will be required to complete a successful background investigation including the Questionnaire for Public Trust Position SF-85. Staff that are unable to successfully undergo the background investigation will need to be able to obtain work outside CMS. Staff will work with their supervisor to get re-staffed, however if they are unable to do so it may result in employment termination due to lack of work.#remote-usa#LI-PD1
