Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join a healthcare team in Muskogee. This position supports providers with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and care coordination to ensure effective delivery of patient care and satisfaction. The Medical Assistant will also provide ancillary services and utilize specialized clinical knowledge to improve the patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and express sensitivity to patient needs and conditions.
• Assess and document vital signs, medications, social history, and symptoms in the medical record.
• Accurately record services and diagnoses on encounter forms, requisitions, and consent forms.
• Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments according to protocols.
• Perform ancillary services including venipunctures, x-rays, and other clinical tasks per protocol.
• Maintain medical records and organize correspondence and test results.
• Coordinate care by handling patient calls, scheduling, and prescription refills.
• Use EMR systems and other applications to complete tasks.
• Track pending tests, procedures, and referrals per protocol.
• Administer oral and intra-muscular medications as directed by physicians.
• Obtain authorizations for services and schedule referrals.
• Provide patient education as directed by providers.
• Assist with supply ordering and participate in quality and safety initiatives.
• Remain compliant with Health System, OSHA, and HIPAA policies.
• Maintain strong patient satisfaction and teamwork.

Required Skills & Experience

• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant program OR one year of related experience within the last 5 years.
• Strong patient care skills and effective interpersonal communication.
• Proficiency in PC and EMR systems.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Understanding of healthcare delivery processes in a medical office.
