This contract will provide occupational medicine health services and electronic health records management for sworn staff from both the City of Phoenix (City) Fire and Police Departments as well as public safety personnel assigned to other jurisdictions throughout the region who have contracted with Phoenix Fire Department Health and Wellness Center (PFDHWC) for these services.

PFDHWC Hours

Facility hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. PFDHWC Clinic hours are 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch period.

Holiday Closures

The PFDHWC is closed on all City of Phoenix observed holidays.


Requirements

Responsibilities:

  1. Document chief complaint and symptoms, perform vital signs, height, weight, visual screen, audiometry, spirometry, and the InBody. Reports any changes or concerns to RN or provider. 
  2. Restock and turn over exam rooms, assist the patient as well as inform the patient of exam procedures and ensure that safety and comfort measures are taken. 
  3. Obtain and organize the patient’s medical record prior to the patient’s appointment. 
  4. Assist in monitoring daily schedules and facilitate smooth patient flow. 
  5. Answer telephone calls and provide the necessary information or take messages as necessary. 
  6. Draw blood for testing by laboratory. 
  7. Administers immunizations as required. 
  8. Assist with maintaining a clean, functional environment through regular cleaning of equipment, sterilizing medical instruments, cleaning exam rooms and storage area; notifies staff member regarding ordering supplies and assists with stocking supplies; assists with restocking exam rooms; performs basic maintenance; notifies support staff regarding any necessary repairs. 
  9. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling hazardous substances. 
  10. Responsible for the proper collection of specimens, related paperwork, and delivery of specimens to the appropriate place.   
  11. Assist providers with physical exam acting as a third party in attendance. 
  12. Assist with special procedures as necessary. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Four years of experience as a Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. 
  2. Three years of Occupational Health experience and/or Family Practice. 
  3. Current CAOHC and NIOSH  certifications or acquired within one year of Contractor’s hire date to work at PFDHWC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working with the NFPA 1582 Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program. 
  2. Experience with tactical athletes in a first responder environment. 

This job is CONTINGENT upon contract award, client approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk clearance.

Final compensation will be based on relevant factors including work experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.
