Job Description - Medical Assistant

About Hopscotch Primary Care

At Hopscotch Primary Care, we believe great healthcare should be accessible to all people across all communities.  Today, almost 20% of Americans live in a rural community, yet only 11% of physicians practice in those same communities.  We are on a mission to transform healthcare in rural America.  We provide high-quality primary care tailored to meet the needs of our patients through our robust care model and comprehensive care team, delivering care in our clinics, and across settings, and wrapping resources around the patients who need them most.

Our patients and the care teams who serve them sit at the center of everything we do at Hopscotch.  Hopscotch Primary Care takes a team approach to serve patient needs and provide the best care possible.  Our goal is to provide the care each of us would want for ourselves or for our family members, in the right setting, and at the right time.

Today, we are serving thousands of patients in our value-based care model and the number is growing every day.  If you want to bring your experience, skill and passion to make a lasting impact in healthcare, we’d like to meet you.

Be the reason a patient feels seen, heard, and cared for.

As a Medical Assistant, you’re not just rooming patients or taking vitals—you’re setting the tone for the entire experience and playing a key role in improving lives.

If you’re someone who thrives on connection, teamwork, and making a real difference every single day, this is your place.

About the Role

  • You’re front and center in patient care—building trust from the very first interaction

  • You’re part of a collaborative, mission-driven care team

  • Your work directly contributes to better outcomes—not just more visits

  • You’ll grow in a model focused on value-based care and innovation

 Compensation & Perks

  • $18–$24/hour (based on experience & location)

  • $1,500 sign-on bonus

  • Quarterly bonus opportunities for all clinic roles

Plus a benefits package that actually supports your life:

  • Generous PTO + paid holidays + sick time

  • Medical, dental, vision for you and your family

  • FREE short- and long-term disability

  • FREE $100k life insurance

  • 401(k) with 4% match (no vesting period)

  • Annual $720–$1,000 HSA contribution

What You’ll Do (And Why It Matters)

You’ll be a key connector between patients, providers, and the broader care team—ensuring every visit is smooth, thoughtful, and impactful.

Before & During Visits

  • Welcome patients and set the tone for a positive, comfortable experience

  • Prepare exam rooms and anticipate care needs (vaccines, labs, screenings)

  • Room patients efficiently while capturing accurate, meaningful clinical info

  • Take vitals, review medications, and identify patient needs

  • Support providers so they can stay focused on care—not logistics

Clinical Support

  • Perform phlebotomy and basic lab tests

  • Administer vaccines and screenings (within certification)

  • Assist with procedures and care delivery

  • Coordinate diagnostics, DME, and follow-up care

Beyond the Visit

  • Provide phone support and guidance to patients

  • Collaborate in care team meetings to improve outcomes

  • Help ensure continuity and follow-through on care plans

Clinic Excellence

  • Maintain clean, safe, fully stocked exam rooms

  • Manage supplies and support quality control processes

  • Uphold infection control and safety standards

About You

You’re not just technically skilled—you genuinely care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (or equivalent training)

  • 1+ year healthcare experience (or clinical rotations)

  • BLS/CPR certified

  • Comfortable using EMR systems

Bonus Points

  • Phlebotomy experience

  • Experience in primary care clinics, value-based or team-based care environments

You Bring:

  • Warm, confident communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organization

  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset

  • A team-first attitude with high emotional intelligence

About Us

At Hopscotch, we:

  • Put patients at the center of everything

  • Take ownership and follow through

  • Support each other and assume the best

  • Continuously look for ways to improve care and ourselves

Ready to make a real impact?

If you’re looking for more than just a job and want to be part of a team changing how care is delivered we’d love to meet you.

At Hopscotch Primary Care, we embrace diversity, invest in a culture of inclusion and positivity and encourage all to apply to join our team.  You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
