Job Description - Medical Assistant

Anticipated start dates for this role are in July 2026, with orientation sessions scheduled for July 6 or July 20, 2026.



ABOUT CASCADE:


Cascade Community Healthcare (CCH) has been providing treatment services to Lewis County and surrounding areas for more than 50 years. Our mission is to provide our clients with compassionate and encouraging counseling leading to a renewed sense of hope and the ability to make positive changes and live more satisfying lives. Cascade currently has six treatment locations in Lewis County.



SHIFT:


Day Shift, Thursday - Saturday: 3 - 12s, 10:00am - 10:30pm


NOC Shift, Sunday - Wednesday: 4 - 12s, 10:00pm - 10:30am



Based on current utilization levels within the Crisis Relief Center, staffing schedules utilizing 3x12 and 4x12 shifts have been implemented to support operational needs. Scheduling and total weekly hours remain subject to change based on ongoing utilization, patient care demands, and organizational needs.



QUALIFICATIONS:




    • Washington State Department of Health Certified Medical Assistant credential is required,

    • BLS Certificate required.

    • Must be able to pass WA State Patrol background check at hire and annually thereafter. National background check if have not lived in WA State consecutively the last 3 years.

    • Must be physically able to pass violence prevention training and perform MOAB techniques.  

    • Must demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team.

    • Must be able to represent the agency in a positive and professional manner.

    • Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

    • Must comply with agency policies and procedures.



    • Must maintain current home telephone and address on file with the personnel office.




    WHAT YOU'LL DO:



    • Help collect patient demographics, Insurance information and other data needed to create client accounts.

    • Contribute data for the nursing assessment, ongoing re-assessment, and health history under the direct supervision of an RN.

    • Collaborate with the RN on the individual’s care plan, reporting pertinent information such as blood glucose levels and breathalyzer results.

    • Transcribe provider orders and administer medications as prescribed.

    • Coordinate with individuals to sign medication consent forms.

    • Perform chart checks, sign off as a secondary verifier for prescribed medications, and ensure accurate medication reconciliation and storage.

    • Draw labs and provide wound care as ordered by providers.

    • Accurately record all medications brought in by individuals.

    • Assist treatment team in managing the milieu and gathering information related to psychopharmacological and physiological needs.

    • Provide education on physical health, psychiatric diagnoses, treatment options, and psychopharmacology to individuals, their families, and others involved in their care.

    • Use appropriate verbal interventions to defuse potentially dangerous or out-of-control behaviors in both youth and adult populations.

    • Demonstrate proficiency in therapeutic intervention techniques, with a clear understanding of safety-related roles and responsibilities.



    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



    • Standing and walking for long periods of time, majority of scheduled shift.

    • Protective holds, movements and carries.

    • Blocking and redirecting patient movements.

    • Physical interventions in response to aggressive and self-injurious behavior.

    • Ability to move quickly and confidently to intervene in situations when protective holds and/or movements are deemed necessary.

    • Ability to pursue a client in the event they try to leave the secure unit.

    • Successful completion of MOAB training (Management of Aggressive Behavior).

      • Including but not limited to pivoting, knee squats, shuffling front and backwards, assisting a person to the floor, stabilizing people in standing, seated, lying and supine positions.



    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
