Job Description - Medical Assistant & Patient Care Coordinator


Premier Neurosurgery is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant who also excels in patient coordination and service to join our growing specialty practice.

As our practice evolves toward a high-touch, patient-centered model, we are looking for a professional, detail-oriented individual who brings confidence, organization, and exceptional care to every patient interaction. This role is ideal for a seasoned Medical Assistant who enjoys both clinical responsibilities and guiding patients through their care journey.

Position Details

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Classification: Non-exempt (hourly)
  • Compensation: $28.00 – $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Patient Coordination

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients before and after visits
  • Coordinate appointments, imaging, and specialty referrals
  • Guide patients through complex care plans with clarity and responsiveness
  • Communicate with hospitals, imaging centers, and referring providers
  • Ensure a seamless and organized patient experience from first contact through follow-up

Clinical Support

  • Patient registration and check-out
  • Rooming patients and obtaining vital signs
  • Initiating referrals and entering orders
  • Support authorization coordination and follow-up 
  • Accurate and timely EMR documentation
  • Provide patient education and follow-up instructions

Qualifications

  • Extensive Medical Assistant experience (typically 5+ years) preferred
  • Specialty practice experience strongly preferred (neurosurgery, neurology, orthopedics, spine, or similar)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Professional and service-oriented in all patient interactions
  • Comfortable working in a high-touch, patient-centered care environment
  • Ability to anticipate needs and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
  • Team-oriented with a proactive approach to patient care

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity required for clinical tasks and computer work

Compensation will be based on experience 

Pay Scale/Ranges:

$28.00-$32.00/hour (and the hourly equivalent for salaried employees).*

*Employees actual pay rate will depend on a host of factors including, without limitation, job location, specialty, skillset, education, and experience. The patey scale/ranges shown are representative of the pay rates for the job title reflected above, but an employees actual pay rate will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
