Medical Assistant - ASC - Career Growth Potential

Position Summary:

The Medical Assistants are responsible for assisting the physicians with minor procedures.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians with patients; work up patients to include intraocular pressures, history of present illness, medical histories, start eye drops, rooming patient

• Assist doctors with YAG laser
• Preps patient charts, enter information into computer system, perform preoperative/postoperative phone calls
• Maintains both sterile and clean techniques in the procedure rooms
• Escorts patients to patient reception area; may be required to assist patients walking, by pushing wheelchairs, lifting, and transferring patients
• Check in patients at front desk
• Other duties as assigned

Work Relationship and Scope:

The Medical Assistants works closely with physicians, patients, and other medical floor staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Certification as a medical assistant is preferred
• Experience as a medical assistant is preferred
• Understanding of medical terminology
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper, safe, efficient usage of office equipment, computers, and software; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to work in a fast-paced medical facility while adhering to HIPAA compliance regulations

Work Conditions:

Work is generally performed at the main clinic; 800 N. First Street, Wausau, WI. Hours of work will be dependent on the needs of the Clinic. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
