We have an immediate need for a dependable, resourceful, and detail-oriented individual to join our medical team as a Medical Assistant in Colorado Springs, CO. This role involves providing both administrative assistance and clinical support.
The purpose of this position is to provide direct patient care under general supervision of licensed personnel, maintaining and operating specialized equipment, and performing any other duties deemed necessary to insure optimal patient care and physician service. While this role is intended to serve at a particular location, it is within the company’s right to assign staff to other locations when staffing shortages occur.

Responsibilities
- Assist provider in seeing patients; perform patient check in, including and recording vital signs, height, weight, chief complaint, brief relevant history including pain status, allergies, current medication, and any other pertinent information. Prepare patient for examination/procedure, as appropriate.
- Initiate/completes appropriate clinical lab work (glucose reading, INR, pregnancy test, toxicology screens), and administer medications as directed.
- Record information in electronic medical records (EMR) database or paper chart and gather all essential components from demographic sheets/consents/credit policies/charge slips, updates medication module, and history.
- Complete necessary paperwork as ordered by provider including printing prescriptions, work restrictions, referrals, and scheduling MRIs.
- Participate in the correct scheduling of patients, appropriate communication with the scheduling department by tasking.
- Obtain and document vitals and modified Aldrete and discharge scoring systems. Assists in discharge of patient with appropriate paperwork.
- Perform chart review on daily basis to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient documentation.
- Clean and examine procedure tables, equipment, and other work areas following current infection control and/or isolation procedure guidelines.
- Assist in keeping Clinic/ASC orderly and follows appropriate cleaning protocols.
- Stock station and exam/procedure rooms as assigned. Inventory specialty items and initiate reorder of supplies as needed.
- Report non-functioning or defective equipment to Clinical Services Manager.
- Ensure all supplies are up to date and replace expired materials as necessary following sterile processing procedures.
- Assist in the maintenance of patient education materials.
- Participate and maintains safety and dignity of patient at all times.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
- Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
- Act as scribe for provider recording patient information as dictated, when requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission, values, and strategies of CPIhealth.

Requirements
- High School Diploma required and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Previous relevant experience preferred.
- Experience with EMR (NextGen/ECW) preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to independently apply skills and job knowledge with supervision.
- Strong organizational, judgment, communication and analytical skills; sometimes under pressure.
- Ability to multi-task and perform multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients, peers, providers, management and visitors.
- Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, providers, insurance companies and general public.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and problem solve.
- Evidence of leadership qualities. Frequently contributing to the improvement of the department and participate in committee participation, task force, etc.
- Ability to contribute in a team environment and to provide excellent customer service.
Licenses & Certifications
- Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant, CMA, RMA, or CCMA from an accredited certification agency preferred.
- BLS certified or obtain certification within three months of hire.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, speaking, grasping, and carrying.
- Occasional reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, and crouching.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed.
- May need to lift or turn patients who are disabled, with assistance if needed.
- Frequent use of computer, keyboard, copy and fax machine and phone.
- This position may perform tasks which involve exposure to bodily fluid (blood, tissue, urine, bile, peritoneal fluid, etc.).
Pay rate: $21/hour to $24/hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Full time; Monday to Thursday 8 am to 4:30 pm and Friday 8 am to 12 pm
