Medical Assistant, Women's Health

Description

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Women’s Health team. The Medical Assistant plays an integral role in the medical office acting as a patient advocate and liaison with physicians and nurses. Collaboration with the team is needed to update patients’ electronic records, scheduling, and performing standard procedures such as blood draws and vitals.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Assists patients to exam rooms and identifies needs for assistive devices such as wheelchairs.
• Accurately updates patient’s electronic record (i.e. medical history, contact information)
• Assist with scheduling patient appointments for surgery and post op visits.
• Perform standard procedures such as blood draws, vitals, EKGs, and other in office procedures.
• Accurately and efficiently measures and records vital signs.
• Cleans exam rooms according to standard protocols to include stocking of rooms as needed.
• Answers phone calls with a professional and compassionate greeting.
• Collect and prepare specimens
• Collaborate with physicians and physicians’ offices as required.
• Maintain inventory of medical office supplies
• Sending out consultations and op notes to PCP’s that referred patients.
• Obtaining authorization for surgical procedures.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft® Word)
• Detail oriented.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Able to multitask.
• Written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Medical assistant experience
• Experience in women’s health setting
• Certificate from accredited program

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

• Physically demanding, high-stress environment
• Exposure to blood, sharp instruments and other devices, body fluids and tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
• Manual and finger dexterity
• Hand and eye coordination
• Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
• Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs
• Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
• Working under stressful conditions
