Position Summary: The Medical Assistant (MA) at Hobble Creek Pediatrics provides essential clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced pediatric environment. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and family-centered care by facilitating patient flow and assisting providers with examinations and procedures. The ideal candidate is a reliable, compassionate professional with strong organizational skills and a dedication to providing high-quality care to children and their families.
Essential Job Functions: Room patients by obtaining accurate chief complaints, medical history, allergies, and current medications. Perform and record pediatric vital signs and growth measurements (height, weight, and head circumference), accurately plotting data on growth charts. Prepare patients for provider examinations and assist during clinical procedures as requested. Provide age-appropriate education and instructions to parents and caregivers regarding follow-up care. Administer vaccines and injections per standing orders and accurately document immunizations in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and state immunization registry. Perform point-of-care testing, including strep, influenza, urinalysis, and blood glucose; collect and label specimens for laboratory processing. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical encounters, triage notes, and provider instructions within the EHR. Conduct phone triage under provider protocols, returning routine calls and providing follow-up instructions for families. Support administrative workflows, including scheduling, patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and prior authorizations as needed. Maintain and stock exam rooms, manage vaccine and supply inventory, and ensure strict adherence to infection control and sterilization protocols. Complete end-of-day close-out duties, ensuring all charts are finalized, orders are processed, and the clinic is clean and organized before departure.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred. Current BLS (CPR) certification required. At least 1 year of clinical experience in a pediatric or primary care setting preferred. Demonstrated experience with pediatric vaccination protocols and growth charting. Proficiency in performing basic point-of-care testing and specimen collection. Strong computer literacy and the ability to navigate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-first approach to children and caregivers. Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail in a busy clinical environment. Hours: This is a full-time position from 8:30 to 5:30 pm.
