The Position:

Breast Imaging facility seeking a full time AR Follow Up Specialist to add to our experienced Billing Department. This position is responsible for overseeing patient overdue collections, outstanding insurance accounts receivable and analyzing trends with an eye for collection improvement. The position reports directly to the Billing Manager. Communication skills with coworkers and patients are vital to improve processes and maintain quality customer relations. Requires strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and the ability to produce, interpret and present detailed billing activity reports.

General Responsibilities and Duties:

• Follow up on unpaid patient accounts. Working with the contracted collection agency. 
• Follow up on unpaid/denied insurance claims. Resolves unpaid claims which have not been paid/rejected within a predetermined period through appeals process.
• Comfortable with communication follow up with patients via phone, mail. 
• Comfortable communicating with insurance provider representatives by email, telephone or virtual/in-person meeting to identify/resolve delays with reimbursement and ensure little to no disruption in the payment of claims.
• Understands in detail insurance and billing procedure guidelines when resubmitting claims and appeals.

Daily as Assigned:

• Reviewing and processing unpaid patient accounts through the statement process.
• Reviewing and maintaining accounts in collections.
• Processing claims, ensuring diagnosis and procedure codes, charges and modifiers are correct for reimbursement.
• Assisting in resolving any problems that a patient may have regarding their statement.
• Posting patient payments and reconcile ledgers related to collections.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of insurance regulations, billing procedures, and coding guidelines which affect patient AR/responsibilities.
• Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• CMC or CPC with experience in Radiology Billing preferred.
• Experience with Patient collections.
• Experience with ledger reading required.
• Experience with insurance and billing procedure guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task, use critical thinking.
• Familiar with Excel/Office Suite.
• Ability to work alone on pre-determined tasks, or in pairs/group on a project. Must be flexible with tasks- no day is the same in a billing office.
• Understanding and thorough walk-through knowledge of insurance websites required.

Hourly rate: $
