A top-tier intellectual property practice is seeking a Patent Agent with a background in medical devices and a degree in chemical engineering to join its Chicago office. This is a high-touch opportunity to work directly with partners focused on innovation in healthcare technology and life sciences.

The firm represents emerging growth and global companies across the full spectrum of medical technologies, including surgical instruments, implantable devices, orthopedics, biomaterials, fluid delivery systems, drug-device combination products, diagnostics, and wearable technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft patent applications and respond to USPTO Office Actions for a variety of medical and diagnostic device innovations.
  

• Conduct prior art searches and analyze patent and scientific literature for freedom-to-operate and patentability assessments.
  

• Translate complex engineering concepts into high-quality IP deliverables.
  

• Support litigation and portfolio strategy through technical expertise and client interfacing.
