Job Description - Medical Director

Works within the vision, mission, and philosophy of the program. In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer or designee(s), assumes joint responsibility for the quality of clinical care provided across the organization. Provides oversight and consultation to program physicians, assuring standardized performance expectations, and work processes. The position consults with management/leadership staff and serves as a liaison to professionals in the community. Principal concern is that direct services, particularly psychiatric services, are effective, efficient, coordinated, and aligned with program values. Provides direct psychiatric services patients served by the program. 



Job Responsibilities


1. Participates in the development and implementation of explicit clinical practices across the organization that reflect state of the art knowledge in patient’s mental health. 


2. Assists in recruitment of physicians and other health care professionals.


3. Provides oversight and contributes to the evaluation of the work of psychiatrists.


4. Leads the improvement of work processes to support medical staff.


5. Provides direct leadership for the organization’s quality assurance activities in cooperation with clinical program managers.


6. Provides consultation to psychiatrists including review and monitoring of documentation related to psychiatric care to ensure clinical standards, bylaws, and rules and regulations are compliant.


7. Advises the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and clinical teams regarding clinical matters pertaining to the operation of the company's behavioral health care services.


8. Collaboratively works with the executive team on strategic and tactical business plans and medical strategies and issues. 9. Assists professional staff in planning and establishing innovative, cost-effective therapeutic programs.


10. Works with outcomes and evaluations and quality assurance departments to optimize quality of care.


11. Reviews incident reports and monitors risk in collaboration with other senior leadership.


12. Maintains and models compliance with all policy and procedures including adherence to all licensing, quality, Information Technology, Human Resources, compliance and regulatory standards.


13. Participates in Continuous* Quality Improvement (CQI) projects as needed.


14. Provides direct service to patients.


15. Performs other related responsibilities, as assigned, to support specific business needs.

Education


Doctor of Medical (MD) or Osteopathy (DO) required. 



Experience Requirements


Minimum 5 years post-residency experience required.
