Medical Instruments Route Driver

Provides reliable and timely transportation of reusable instruments to and from SHS satellite clinics. This individual will have clear communication skills with satellite clinic associates, Sterile Processing Department, Transportation Department, and the Infection Prevention & Control Department. The individual will adhere to the guidelines mandated by OSHA in regards to the transportation of blood borne pathogens. This individual will also be responsible to operate and complete minor maintenance on assigned vehicle; and to maintain vehicle records

Primary Functions 

• Transport reusable instruments to/from SHS Central locations to/from SHS satellite locations


• Complete daily pre/post trip vehicle inspections as required


• Complete daily manifests as required


• Communication with fellow associates regarding instrument transportation


• Ability to push and pull a cart


• Ability to lift and move up to 15 - 20 pounds


• Ability to get into and out of vehicle many times a day


• Ability to operate technology such as a smart phone, tablet, and basic computer functions


• Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle at all times

Experience & Qualifications

• Must possess a driving record that meets company requirements


• Possess a functional knowledge of the demographics of the service area


• Possess excellent customer service skills and be able to work well with others


• Must project a positive attitude and motivate peers


• Maintain a strong attendance record


• Ability to work under stress and meet strict time-lines


• Actively participate in on-going safety and educational training as required


• Pleasant, respectful, and good disposition

Educational Requirements

• High School Diploma


• Must posses a driving record that meets company requirements. 


• Possess excellent customer service skills and be able to work well with others.


• Must project a positive attitude and motivate peers. 

Certifications & Licensure Requirements

• Must possess a valid Class B or C Commercial Driver's License required endorsement from the state he/she resides in, and a valid Medical Examination Card.
