Medical Interpreter

Summary of Position:

Assist patients/families with sign language interpreting when they are communicating with physicians, nurses or any other healthcare giver.

Document patient/family concerns and coordinate investigation.

Assist patients, families and companions with Limited English Proficiency interpreting when they are communicating with physicians, nurses, or any other healthcare provider.  

Acts as liason between patient / family / companions and organization by interpreting, explaining, and navigating the organizations policies and procedures.

Must be an advocate for patients, families and companions in the MMC system that have Limited English Proficiency

Education and Requirements:

Successful completion of medical interpreter training program.

Certified Medical Interpreter Certification preferred.
