Schedule: Full-Time | Mon – Fri, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Hiring Range: $35.90 - $43.88 per hour

Are you an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician looking for an opportunity to take your expertise to the next level? Puyallup Tribal Health Authority (PTHA) is seeking a skilled and dependable Medical Lab Technician III to join our Medical Laboratory team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced laboratory professional who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems, supporting colleagues, and helping ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory services. In this senior-level role, you will serve as a key technical resource for the laboratory and assume a leadership role in the absence of the Medical Lab Supervisor.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing accurately and efficiently while maintaining complete and accurate records of testing processes and results.
  • Apply knowledge of medical laboratory science, equipment, materials, procedures, and technical methods to support quality patient care.
  • Perform phlebotomy using appropriate techniques to ensure specimen integrity.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies and follow established quality control procedures and standards.
  • Evaluate, release, and report patient test results using independent judgment within established testing methods.
  • Serve as a technical resource for laboratory staff and assist with troubleshooting instrument malfunctions, assay performance issues, and other technical concerns.
  • Provide leadership and serve as a primary point of contact for staff and vendors when the Medical Lab Supervisor is absent.
  • Assist with daily scheduling and workflow coordination to promote efficient laboratory operations.
  • Assist with training new employees and students and provide constructive feedback regarding laboratory processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with physicians, healthcare professionals, and other departments to resolve laboratory and patient-care issues.
  • Assist with reviewing laboratory reports, procedures, testing methods, and quality control activities.
  • Support compliance with laboratory regulatory requirements, including CLIA, COLA, and AAAHC.
  • Perform quality control evaluations, assay calibrations, troubleshooting, and equipment-related problem resolution.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new procedures, instrumentation, computer functionality, and other laboratory projects.
  • Maintain appropriate continuing education and certification requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program or successful completion of a 50-week military MLT program.
  • Current MLT certification.
  • Five (5) years of medical laboratory experience performing moderate- to high-complexity testing.
  • One (1) year of recent supervisory experience.
  • Experience and/or ability to work with electronic health record systems.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Must apply for Washington State Medical Assistant (MA) Phlebotomist Certification within the first month of hire and obtain active status within four months.

Salary Description

$35.90- $43.88 /hour
