What your responsibilities will be as a Lab Technician:

• Accessioning specimens in a timely and accurate manner
• Preparing slides for transport with courier
• Filing and pulling slides as requested
• Performing gross dissection/examination for select uncomplicated or wholly submitted or bisected skin specimens
• Performing microtomy on various tissue types to include very small biopsies
• Accurate and timely preparation and staining of histology specimens under both routine and STAT (frozen section, Mohs surgery) conditions
• Ensuring safe and non-traumatic specimen handling process with critical concern for the quality of the specimen
• Controlling contaminated or potentially dangerous specimens in accordance with accreditation agency requirements
• Preparing slides with concern for the quality of the specimen given the procedures to be used for test or examination
• Ensuring equipment is operated according to manufacturer's instructions, maintained properly and supplies are adequate for the work to be performed
• Maintaining accurate records kept for quality control, quality assurance and patient data

Requirements

 What we look for: 

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Biology (Preferred)
• Experience in tissue pathology (Required)
• Experienced Histotech (Preferred but not required)
• Computer literacy (Required) /the office is fully electronic with EMR and LIS systems
