Location: VA West Roxbury, 1400 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA 02132
Key Responsibilities
Chemistry: Perform routine testing on automated instrumentation (e.g., Abbott Architect ci8200, Abbott Alinity, Advanced Instruments Osmos) and conduct daily/weekly quality control and maintenance.
Urinalysis: Execute routine chemistry and urinalysis testing using automated systems (e.g., Beckman Coulter Urinalysis).
Blood Bank: Perform cross-matching, antibody screening/identification, and process blood products using tube and gel technology.
Hematology/Coagulation: Conduct routine testing on automated instrumentation such as Sysmex and ACL Top.
Microbiology: Perform manual and automated testing, including plating, gram staining, Microscan setup, and PCR testing.
Quality & Safety
Independently test, evaluate, and report patient results and Quality Control (QC).
Identify and resolve issues related to sample collection, processing, and reporting.
Positively identify patients and samples prior to collection or testing.
Maintain professional, patient-centered care to avoid stakeholder complaints.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certification: Must be a nationally certified Medical Technologist (MT, MLS, or CLS).
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, hematology, coagulation, and microbiology.
Work Schedule
The employee may be required to work various shifts (Day, Evening, or Night), as well as weekends and holidays.
Day Shift Examples: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM; 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
Evening Shift Examples: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM; 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM.
Night Shift Examples: 8:30 PM – 6:30 AM; 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM.
