Medical Malpractice / Healthcare Liability Defense Attorney | Charlotte, North Carolina | $120,000–$150,000/year


If you’re a litigator looking to build deeper expertise in healthcare liability defense, this is an opportunity to work on high-stakes matters alongside nationally recognized attorneys at an Am Law 200 firm.


You’ll defend healthcare providers and institutions through all phases of litigation while working directly with physicians, healthcare administrators, insurers, and risk management professionals. You’ll also gain meaningful exposure to medical records, expert witnesses, regulatory matters, and complex defense strategy.

What you’ll do:
• Defend healthcare providers and institutions in medical malpractice and professional liability litigation
• Handle matters through pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial
• Analyze medical records and work with expert witnesses and consulting physicians
• Draft persuasive motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
• Participate in witness preparation, expert development, hearings, mediations, and trials
• Collaborate with clients, insurers, risk management professionals, and healthcare administrators on defense strategies
• Assist with regulatory investigations and professional licensing matters
• Provide practical, business-focused legal counsel
• Work with senior attorneys on case strategy and litigation management
• Manage caseloads while meeting litigation deadlines and billable requirements


What you bring:
• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active membership in good standing with the North Carolina Bar, or ability to waive in
• At least 4 years of litigation experience
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Comfort handling depositions and court appearances appropriate to your experience
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules of procedure
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Ability to collaborate effectively while maintaining confidentiality


Medical malpractice or liability defense experience is preferred, but not required.


This is a hybrid opportunity based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The successful candidate must be able to periodically work from the Charlotte office for client meetings, training, team collaboration, and other business needs.
