Medical Nail Technician - Podiatry

Description

The Medical Nail Technician will provide professional nail care services with a focus on health and wellness. This position requires attention to both the cosmetic and medical aspects of nail care, ensuring patients receive safe, hygienic, and beautiful nail treatments. This position is responsible for treating patients with various health conditions or who may need assistance maintaining their nails due to age or infirmity. This professional will work closely with our Podiatry physicians and refer to them any patients who have more substantial clinic concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide pedicure services with medical-grade sanitation and precision.
• Perform routine and specialized nail care for clients with medical conditions, including diabetic patients.
• Educate clients on proper nail and foot care to prevent future issues.
• Work closely with medical staff to ensure proper protocols are followed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of nail stations, tools, and equipment.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including sterilization techniques.
• Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a relaxing and therapeutic experience for all patients.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and medical nail care best practices.

• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well and communicate professionally with physicians, patients and staff in all levels in the organization. Able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.

• Ability to interpret and explain an extensive variety of instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Supervisory Relationship:

Direct report to Clinical Staff Manager

Physical/Mental Demands: Work may require hand dexterity for pedicures, office machine operation, using calculator and/or computer keyboard. Physical demands may also include stooping, bending or reaching to files and supplies, mobility to complete errands or deliveries, standing or sitting for extended periods of time and viewing a computer monitor. Travel from site to site may be required.

Environmental/Working Conditions: Work is performed in a clinic office environment and involves frequent contact with physicians, staff, patients, and the public. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.

Requirements

• Licensed Nail Technician in the state of Illinois (required).
• Experience in a medical setting is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Ability to handle medical nail care procedures, including those related to diabetes, etc.
• Must be compassionate and comfortable working with older adults.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to learn 
• A passion for treating patients with medical conditions.
