Location: OACAC Central Office - 215 S. Barnes Ave. Springfield, MO 65802

Reports Directly To: Family Planning Director

Employment Type: Part-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: $17.00 - $17.50 Hourly

Position Overview


The Medical Office Assistant supports the Family Planning clinic through clinical assistance, patient education, community outreach, and administrative support. This position is ideal for someone interested in the medical field who is outgoing, creative, dependable, and comfortable working independently. The position helps expand awareness and access to Family Planning services through patient care, community education, and outreach.


Work Schedule


Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch.


Schedule may vary based on clinic and staffing needs. Evening and weekend hours may be required for community events and outreach activities.


Key Responsibilities



  • Assist with patient care, including obtaining vital signs, medical histories, pregnancy testing, specimen collection, phlebotomy, injections, and preparing patients for examinations.

  • Provide patient education and support regarding Family Planning services and contraceptive options in a caring, nondirective, and nonjudgmental manner.

  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records, required documentation, consents, reports, and patient information.

  • Support clinic operations by preparing and maintaining exam rooms, equipment, supplies, and general office functions.

  • Assist with patient follow-up, referrals, and communication regarding test results as directed by clinical staff.

  • Participate in community outreach, health fairs, presentations, educational programs, and other events to promote Family Planning services.

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow applicable program requirements and Title X guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Family Planning Director.


Minimum Qualifications



  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Medical training or Medical Assistant certification preferred.

  • Clinical experience or willingness to receive training in medical assisting, phlebotomy, injections, and related duties.

  • Valid Missouri driver's license and appropriate vehicle insurance.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Previous medical office, clinical, outreach, or community education experience.

  • Experience with electronic medical records and medical terminology.

  • Experience working with diverse populations in a healthcare or community setting.

  • Ability to provide professional, respectful, and nonjudgmental service to patients and community members.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to learn and follow clinical, program, and confidentiality requirements.

  • Comfortable speaking to individuals and groups in community settings.

  • Basic computer and clerical skills.


Compensation


$17.00 - $17.50 Hourly
