Job Description - Medical Office Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Office Specialist to join our nephrology clinic. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support, ensuring efficient office operations, and delivering exceptional patient care. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist patients over the phone in a friendly and professional manner.

- Schedule appointments and manage the midlevel appointment schedule

- Process incoming fax orders, referrals, or other documentation

- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.

- Obtain prior authorizations

- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.

- Perform general office duties, including filing, data entry, and inventory management.

This position is full-time.  Monday-Thursday 8-5, Friday 8-12.  We offer a competitive benefits package to include health, vision, and dental insurance.  401K-match and profit sharing.

Our staff of more than 400 includes specialized physicians as well as advanced practice and mid-level providers and support staff across dozens of healthcare specialties. We are headquartered in Waterloo, and all of our physicians, clinics, and labs are located in and around the Cedar Valley so that we may better serve our entire community. 

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is preferred.
