Job Description
We are seeking a professional, organized, and customer-focused Medical Receptionist to join our women’s healthcare practice in Hagerstown, Maryland. This role is essential to supporting a positive patient experience by managing front desk operations in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional customer service. The Front Office Coordinator is responsible for patient check-in and check-out, registration support, accurate scheduling, insurance verification, and collecting patient payments. This position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with electronic health records, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative teams to support efficient patient flow.
Responsibilities
Patient Check-In
Welcome patients and support registration and required forms.
Verify insurance coverage and confirm accuracy in the EHR system.
Collect co-pays and other patient payments as needed.
Schedule appointments and direct patients to the appropriate location.
Maintain a clean and organized lobby and front desk area.
Patient Check-Out
Review visit documentation to schedule follow-ups, referrals, and lab work.
Collect outstanding balances and process payments.
Provide patients with paperwork and instructions for upcoming appointments.
Keep the checkout area clean and assist with front desk flow as needed.
Additional Support
Provide coverage for other front desk areas or call center support when needed.
Assist with reports and general administrative tasks.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience as a medical receptionist or front office coordinator in a healthcare setting.
Prior experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
Working knowledge of insurance processes, eligibility verification, and patient payment collection.
Strong proficiency in scheduling, attention to detail, multitasking, communication, and customer service.
Must be able to reliably commute to Hagerstown, MD 21740.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
OB/GYN or women’s healthcare front office experience
Experience working with payment plans and high-volume scheduling
