Job Description - Medical Support Assistant

The Medical Support Assistant is a medical administrative assistant who provides procedure scheduling and administrative support while traveling between our Riverview and Tampa, Florida locations with an assigned Physician. This is a non-technical, administrative role.


 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Coordinates Physician’s office schedule to maximize efficiency and keep Provider on task.

  • Communicates effectively and flexibly responds to changing demands to ensure smooth workflow and continuity of appointments.

  • Triages telephone messages and returns calls to provide prompt answers to callers.

  • Collaborates effectively with patients and staff at all levels.

  • Rooms, interviews, and safely transports patients via wheelchair.

  • Coordinates and schedules injections, procedures, and follow up appointments as designated by physician.

  • Maintains files and patient records in a confidential manner consistent with HIPAA rules.

  • Performs other administrative, non-clinical duties as directed or assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School Diploma

  • Minimum of 2 (two) years’ experience in a medical office with surgical scheduling experience preferred

  • Highly organized, multitasks with sense of urgency, utilizes good judgment, and strong problem solver

  • Able to reliably travel between Riverview and Tampa, FL offices as clinic schedule dictates

  • Provides superior patient care, exceptional customer service, and practices professional email, telephone etiquette, and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to safely push and maneuver occupied wheelchairs up to 75 pounds of force.

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Able to spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk while working on a computer, standing, walking, and navigating hallways, elevators, and outdoor walkways.
