This is a field based role that requires regular travel to 2 clinics in McAllen, TX. 


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING  


The Medical Support Supervisor (LVN) at Frontier Direct Care (FDC) plays a critical leadership role in delivering a remarkable healthcare experience. This role ensures smooth clinic operations across multiple sites while supporting the clinical performance and professional development of Medical Assistants (MAs). The Medical Support Supervisor removes barriers to care—such as cost, time, access, and administration—by empowering both patients and providers through efficient, high-quality, patient-centered services. This is a full-time position requiring an active Texas LVN license and demonstrated people leadership experience.

Clinical Operations

  • Oversee daily clinic operations across 2 clinic sites ensuring exceptional quality of care and efficiency.
  • Manage shared inboxes, phone, fax, and email communications for the practice.
  • Monitor MA performance in EHR documentation and communication standards.
  • Lead and coordinate clinic-based projects in Asana or other project management tools.
  • Manage inventory, vaccine supply/storage, and ensure efficient supply ordering and billing reconciliation.

Medical Assistant (MA) Management

  • Supervise and support a team of up to 8 MAs across assigned clinics. 
  • Coordinate MA schedules, coverage, PTO (planned and unplanned), and daily task flow.
  • Provide mentorship, conflict resolution, and team engagement opportunities.
  • Conduct weekly 1:1s with each MA to support development and accountability.
  • Lead onboarding and ongoing clinical skills training (e.g., IVs, phlebotomy, injections).
  • Conduct mid-year and annual performance evaluations.

Clinical Support & Triage

  • Triage member needs to ensure appropriate and timely clinical response.
  • Implement nurse protocols and standing orders under the direction of the Medical Director and CMO.
  • Monitor clinical workflows and ensure a seamless, high-touch patient experience.

Population Health & Quality Improvement

  • Research and coordinate interventions to improve practice-wide population health outcomes.
  • Track and report clinic data related to health goals, provider capacity, and member utilization.
  • Support strategic initiatives to help achieve clinic goals including Member Utilization and NPS.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, BLS, medical records standards, and regulatory safety protocols.
  • Maintain documentation and readiness for internal and external audits.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as the liaison between MAs and clinical leadership (Lead PCP, Medical Director).
  • Participate in weekly practice Leadership meetings and medical director 1:1s.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and stakeholders using secure systems (e.g., Twilio-based communication).

Requirements

Qualifications 

  • Active and unrestricted LVN license in Texas.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical LVN experience (clinic setting preferred).
  • At least 2 years of staff management experience, ideally supervising Medical Assistants.
  • Prior Medical Assistant experience, preferred. 
  • Experience mentoring and training MAs in clinical skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EHR) and scheduling platforms.
  • Active BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel weekly between assigned clinics
  • Personal cell phone use required for internal communications (Don’t worry, your number will not be shared externally, we use Twilio for external communication).
