We are seeking a

Medical Technologist

for our Safety Assessment site located in

Durham, North Carolina.

Perform basic medical technology procedures according to protocol, SOP and GLP. Operate, maintain and perform basic troubleshooting procedures on analyzers. Process additional study samples. Perform and review study ordered parameters and computer input of raw data.
The following are responsibilities related to the

Medical Technologist

position:

• Conducting routine diagnostic and/or research medical tests and/or assay development testing on blood, bone marrow, urine, and other body fluids.
• Preparing blood, bone marrow or body fluid push, squash or cytocentrifuge smears/preparations or urine sediment wet mounts.
• Staining (either manually or by using the Wescor stainer) morphological preparations and evaluate staining quality.
• Manually coverslip stained blood/bone marrow/cytology slide preparations.
• Microscopic analysis of blood, bone marrow, urine sediment, and body fluid (including manual cell differential counts and morphological evaluations) and photomicroscope techniques.
• Review of samples to include identification of factors that could introduce error (i.e., pre-analytical sources of variation) and reject contaminated or sub-standard specimens.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications related to the

Medical Technologist

position:
Education:

Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent in medical laboratory technology (MLT) or related field required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in medical technology (MT) desired.
Experience:

minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical pathology laboratory.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Certification/Licensure:

Certified Medical (preferred) Technologist (MT) or Veterinary Technologist. Alternatively, may be Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT)
Other:

Experience with computer software programs strongly desired. Effective organizational and leadership skills also strongly desired.
The pay range for this position is $35.00/hr to $37.00/hr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
