Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist - Lebanon, IN

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of laboratory tests, many of which are complex, involve numerous steps and techniques, and require use of professional judgment. Tests may be performed in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Serology, or Urinalysis. Professional application of the principles, theories, and techniques of Medical Technology are used to produce reliable test results, which aid the physician in diagnosis and treatment. This position is responsible for the performance of routine and advanced testing procedures, is accountable for accurate results and proper use of quality control materials, must recognize the interdependence of tests and the conditions that affect test results, must be able to use and maintain a variety of complex instruments. The Medical Technologist participates in continuing educational programs.

Minimum Requirements:

Required:

• 
  

  Bachelors degree in chemical, biological science, or biochemistry acceptable

  
  


• 
  

  Diploma must indicate medical laboratory technology or medical laboratory science; if diploma does not specify, a transcript must be submitted to review CLIA educational requirements

  
  


• 
  

  General or technical experience in one or more of the following areas: Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Serology, Urinalysis, and/or Transfusion medicine

  
  


• 
  

  Must meet CLIA 88 standards for testing personnel in a high and moderate complexity laboratory

  
  


• 
  

  If not certified, must become certified within one year of hire date

  
  

Preferred:

• 
  

  Bachelors degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory

  
  


• 
  

  Certification with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent
