Medical Transportation Aide - 1st Shift

Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education/Lead Teacher, the Medical Transportation Aide will:

• Help to maintain the cleanliness of the vans.
• Assist in the classrooms when not needed to transport according to the duties of a teacher aide, i.e., perform direct care of students and assist in providing students with ADLs.
• Cooperate and participate in internal investigations.
• Drive regular vans and wheelchair vans to transport students, their equipment and supplies to on campus clinics and/or to outside medical appointments.
• Safely and effectively lifting children and adults; weights vary but often exceed 100 pounds.

Other Requirements:

• Must hold a valid driver’s license for at least 6 months and be ready, willing and able to drive the Company’s wheelchair and/or mini vans safely according to Massachusetts driving laws.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience/specific skills in supporting children with developmental disabilities.
• Each staff member must participate in a minimum of two hours per month in-service training to maintain compliance with state regulations (EEC and DESE) and to further develop the skills necessary for continued employment and advancement.

Schedule:

• 8 Hour Shift ~ 7:30 - 4:30
• Requires Flexibility
• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Developmental Disabilities: 1 year (Preferred)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)
