About the Role:

As a Medication Technician, you will be responsible for administering medications as prescribed by the resident’s provider and documenting the administration, effectiveness, and any noted adverse actions or side effects. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Administering and accurately recording the administration of medications for residents per physician orders 
• Observing, recording, and reporting symptoms and conditions of residents that could be related to medication interactions, adverse drug reactions, or medication side effects to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner 
• Providing and promoting residents’ rights when providing care and during the administration of medications 
• Storing medications safely and accurately in accordance with established policies and procedures and applicable state/federal regulations 
• Monitoring medications to ensure accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received, administered, and at change of shift 
• Routinely inspecting, cleaning, and monitoring equipment and supplies to ensure resident safety 
• Reporting any equipment or supply issues to the Registered Nurse for correction or repair when identified 
• Obtaining, recording, and reporting vital signs as indicated during the administration of medications

Requirements

•  Education: Graduate of a Medication Technician program required 
• Licenses/Certification: Valid certification as a Medication Technician in the state of employment. Valid CPR certification preferred 
• Experience: Six months of experience in a long-term care environment preferred
