FCFT is a union of Fairfax Co. Public Schools workers. Our members are
Teachers, Transportation, para-educators(IAs), and administrative / support staff.
This is a full time bargaining unit position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Tracks /member meeting schedules, updates case logs, answersmember questions;
Assists individual members and defense representatives in preparing andprocessing grievances, to include correspondence, hearing preparations, andscheduling meetings
Regularly follows up with members to ensure issues are appropriately resolved and meet FCFT’s customer service objectives.
Compiles and creates reports on customer service response data
Maintains confidential files and records
Types letters, memoranda, reports, and other correspondence material frommarginal notes, rough drafts, dictation and/or verbal instructions includingcorrect grammar, spelling and punctuation
Attends meetings and takes and transcribes minutes
Continually keep current on federal, state and local labor laws
Guides members and Member Relations Representatives on matters related
to work-place issues
Reviews and edits case-related documents and ensure proper safe keepingand documentation on all sensitive member information.
Interface the reconciliation process with school system representatives onmember issues
Maintenance of detailed notes, logs, and data are essential
Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Member Relations Rep, LocalPresident and Executive Director
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or at least 3 years of labor/labor relations experience in a
unionized setting.
Skills:
Qualified candidates must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks
Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, calendaring, andscanning/storing documents
Data and detail minded (organizational skills)
Knowledge of contract negotiation and grievance procedures stronglypreferred
Familiar with school system policies and procedures preferred

Working conditions
The Member Relations Representative primarily works in the FCFT office, but will attend
meetings outside the office. Special working conditions may occasionally require
evening, holiday or weekend work. Candidates must also have a valid driver’s license.

Salary and Benefits
This position is covered by our collective bargaining agreement with the
Washington-Baltimore News Guild of the starting salary of this position is $62,000.
