Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, responsible for increasing membership acquisition through the promotion and selling of memberships onsite at the Membership and Tours Center. Handle onsite ticket conversions for guests visiting the Aquarium who want to convert to members. Represent the Membership Department by being an onsite liaison to members and donors during their visit, to promote cultivation and retention efforts and provide a high level of service. Perform other duties as required.
Core Activities:
Process same-day ticket order conversions to membership.
Complete data entry for member account changes, in direct contact with members.
Answer questions about the program and events to cultivate existing members as a full-service membership representative.
Process renewals and contributions.
Proactively greet non-member guests and engage them in conversation to promote and sell memberships.
Complete member account changes using member account notes and inquiries coming in from GE staff members.
Assist the GE staff with launching tours at the Membership and Tours Center.
Stay up to date with program details and serve as a direct point of contact for onsite GE staff with membership questions.
Provide support for onsite member events – including but not limited to, greeting members, processing event ticket sales and validating entry to event.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Associates Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
2 years in-person sales experience
2 years of administrative experience
Experience working with database programs, Tessitura or Raiser’s Edge preferred.
Must be comfortable in fast-paced, high-volume environment
Available to work weekdays, weekends and holidays
Able to work on feet for 8 hours per day
Embraces teamwork and thrives in team environment
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Excellent customer service and written/oral communications skills
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work within and maintain Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Core Values
Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Typical office equipment
Constant sitting, standing, walking, bending
Occasional unassisted lifting up to 50 lbs
Typical office environment, main aquarium and exhibits, occasional offsite events
Hourly Compensation Range:
$22.00-$24.86 USD per hour. Starting rate will vary based on previous experience and relevant skills/knowledge set.
