Description

The Membership Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the complete membership process from start to finish, providing the best possible experience for our guests. This process will involve the active recruitment of new members, which requires establishing a presence and interacting with guests on the zoo’s busiest dates and potentially representing the zoo at recruitment opportunities within the community. This position will also include assisting the Director of Development and Development Coordinator with various other fundraising initiatives. Lehigh Valley Zoological Society is a non-profit founded in 2004 with a mission to connect its community with nature to empower people to protect wildlife. 

Requirements

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Position requires performance of the following activities: 

 • Provide exceptional customer service to all Zoo guests and members

 • Meet monthly goals and strive to increase memberships annually

 • Handle customer inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner, so that both the zoo and the customer benefit

 • Setup and manage membership table on high volume days/signature event days

 • Create and disperse membership communications, including the monthly e-newsletter, as needed

 • Assist and attend all Zoo member events

 • Represent the zoo at outside events to promote the membership program 

 • Data entry

 • Fulfill ADOPT, Brick, and Etsy orders

 • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS COMPETENCIES:

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint 

• Detail oriented and organized 

• Excellent written communication skills

• Ability to communicate effectively 

• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy as well in a group setting

• Excellent time management with ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines 

• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

 • High school diploma or equivalent required

 • A minimum of 1 year experience using Customer Relationship Management databases 

 • Adjust working hours to accommodate attendance at the Zoo on weekends, during signature events, special promotions, and Winter Light Spectacular, all which require some availability on weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. · Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. Must be able to work outside.
