Mental Health & Wellness Therapist

Position Summary
Using an ecological relational, and family systems approach, strengths-based perspective, and incorporating a stages of change model, this position provides therapeutic services to residents and participants who have been directly affected by domestic violence. 

The dually licensed Mental Health and Wellness Therapist is responsible for counseling and case management services to residents and program participants of Women’s Advocates.  Strong emphasis is placed on engaging participants and delivery of clinical services through multidisciplinary teamwork and coordination.  These services include outreach, needs assessment, planning and resource identification, service linkages, monitoring and ongoing assessment, and client advocacy.  Women’s Advocates applies harm reduction, trauma informed, and culturally responsive approaches to service delivery. 

The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides substance use assessment, treatment planning, individual, group and family interventions to engage victim-survivors in working towards their recovery goals. 
• Assists victim-survivors in obtaining medications used to treat opioid addiction during recovery as needed.
• Facilitates psychoeducation group, skills group and/or co-occurring groups, independently and co-facilitate with mental health and/or advocacy teams. 
• Engages a multi-disciplinary team including Women’s Advocates care teams and community services providers to provide a collaborative response to service delivery. 
• Engages and maintains relationships with community service providers, state and local agencies, and healthcare providers to remain current on relevant information, resources and referrals. 
• Completes and maintains clinical and case documentation in electronic records, including statistical data in accordance with HIPAA, organization, and program standards.
• Provides training to staff on relevant substance use disorders and related recovery topics such as culturally relevant prevention, education, use of overdose medication, and pharmacology.
• Stays up to date on new treatments, protocols, and licensure requirements within the field.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

• Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) with a minimum of five years of experience working as an LADC. 
• Dually licensed as a clinical mental health therapist in social work, marriage and family therapy, or other related discipline (LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, etc.). 
• Knowledge of local community substance use, mental health, and wellness resources.
• Ability to prioritize, handle a variety of tasks and be self-directed.
• Ability to collect and maintain confidential data.
• Ability to work effectively across differences. 
• Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to intercultural development and anti-racism work in the workplace
• Commitment to actively contributing to the organization being a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and meticulous attention to detail. 
• Physically ambulatory and able to negotiate multiple stairways.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).
• Valid driver’s license with current insurance and a reliable motor vehicle.
• Criminal background check is required for this position.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge and understanding of systems of violence and trauma, including inter-generational effects of historical trauma.
• Program development and/or project management experience. 
• Ability to perform CPR, first aid, and respond to emergency situations to include administering Narcan/Naloxone. 
• Second language preferred.
