Position Title: Mental Health Counselor
Department: Clinical
Status: Exempt
FULL-TIME, Monday-Friday plus on-call rotation schedule
JOB SUMMARY
Position will work with both residential and outpatient clientele to perform mental health assessments, engage in diagnosis and treatment planning, facilitate individual and group process therapy, psycho-education groups on topics such as mental health, family issues, and assist in coordinating community referrals.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The mental health counselor does not supervise any positions. However, if qualifications are met, may provide clinical supervision for colleagues seeking higher licensure. The mental health counselor will work as part of the multidisciplinary team including mental health professionals, substance use disorder counselors, nurses, case managers, residential staff etc. where they participate in case supervision reviews and group supervision with the Site Program Director and/or Mental Health Clinical Supervisor.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform mental health assessments to diagnose and determine client treatment needs.
- Provide individual and group counseling implementing a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities to assist clients in growth and progress towards mental health and substance use disorder treatment plan goals and objectives.
- Develop materials for facilitation of group therapy.
- Assess client progress towards the treatment plan objective and goals.
- Maintain records and documents on client treatment progress as required by Federal, state, insurance/payment provider and ShareHouse standards, regulations and policies.
- Attend and participate in multidisciplinary staff meetings and consult with other professional staff to ensure appropriate treatment/ programming for clients.
- Participate in professional continuing education, orientation and training to maintain credentialing and follow ShareHouse policies and procedures.
- Provide and maintain reliable and prompt attendance with the ability to work the schedule dictated by business necessity
PERIODIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain contact and communicate with outside agencies as needed to ensure open communication and transfer of information
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure coverage for client needs
- Attend administrative and other meetings as to maintain and increase awareness of organizational goals and objectives; communicate information as necessary to staff
- Provide leadership in the advocacy of ShareHouse and represent the organization at outside meetings in a positive manner to increase awareness of and generate interest in program
- Bi-Monthly rotation allowing for float coverage responsibilities
- Serve on committees as assigned by Clinical Director
QUALIFICATIONS
- LPCC, LPC, or LICSW licensure with preference given to education or experience with substance use disorder and/or family therapy
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or similar mental health designation depending on state/location/program
- Meet exemptions under applicable Federal/state rules and statutes
- May be to possess and maintain valid driver license and be able to be insured according to company insurance standards

This position works in an environment with few physical discomforts; may occasionally be exposed to drafts, noise, temperature variations and odors.
