Job Description - Mental Health Court Liaison

Description

Greater Nashua Mental Health is looking for Mental Health Court Liaison to join our team! The Mental Health Court Liaison conducts assessments for any individual referred to the Community Connections/Mental Health Court Program to determine eligibility for the program. Works with the court, identifies treatment plan based upon appropriate level of care required, assists individuals who enter the program link, and navigates into treatment. Monitors participant's adherence to treatment, and serve as liaison to court.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Screens referred candidates to the program, and identifies the appropriate level of care required.
  • Enters participants into a program contract with the court's approval.
  • Assists participants to successfully navigate into treatment.
  • Monitors participant's adherence to treatment, and serves as a liaison to the court. Coordinates and attends weekly court reviews.
  • Maintains Community Connections Database by entering in all referred individuals and those who enter into a contract (the program). Responsible for the accuracy of the Database, ensuring that there is less than 5% of missing information or null values.
  • Attends and participates in stakeholder meetings, including quarterly behavioral health and justice coalition meetings, monthly meeting with statewide mental health court liaisons, etc.
  • Ensures that Community Connections notes are entered into EMR for connected clients from program entry, when legal status changes, or when an exchange of pertinent information related to clinical care needs to be communicated with treatment team members.
  • Promotes the program through activities such as presentations to stakeholder groups internally and externally, celebration of group graduations, etc.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.  
  • Develops and implements group programming for mental health participants. Billable expectations for group services will include a minimum of 1 hour of group therapy weekly.

Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field
  • 3 to 5 years related work experience
  • Solid risk assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of the legal system and legal process.
  • Ability to direct clients in need to local and state-wide resources and services.
  • Proficiency in applying motivational interviewing, DBT, and CBT techniques.
  • Knowledge of involuntary emergency admission processes.
  • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in high pressured situations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments.
  • Ability to exercise judgment.
