We are seeking a Mental Health Employment Specialist to assist adults with severe and persistent mental illness (e.g., bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder) in securing gainful employment within the community. This role involves providing 65% of services in community settings. The ideal candidate will excel in documentation, prioritize timeliness, demonstrate strong organizational skills, and possess the ability to cultivate relationships with employers. Weekly communication with employers and active participation in our employment and behavioral health team are essential.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service Related Field
- 2+ years of experience working with the adult mental illness population
- experience job coaching
- Valid NC Driver’s License
The position will be responsible for:
- Establishing and nurturing relationships with employers, gaining insight into their businesses, hiring practices, preferences, and priorities through regular visits. Required contacts must be met weekly.
- Advocating for employment opportunities for clients assigned to your caseload, based on their work preferences.
- Collaborating with Employment Peer Mentors, behavioral health providers, families, natural supports, housing, transportation, and other community service providers to support individuals.
- Providing on-site job coaching as needed.
- Attending weekly vocational unit meetings and other required meetings as needed.
- Developing relationships with external mental health team assignments.
- Completing daily service notes within 24 hours of service delivery.
