Position Summary

The Mental Health Groups Facilitator (MHGF) is responsible for the assessment, design, and implementation of psychoeducational and therapeutic groups. The MHGF is responsible for planning and scheduling all mental health groups within the partial hospital program. The MHGF will also be responsible for the clinical documentation of each group.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Clinical and Support
   
   
   
   1. Implement the Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP).
   
   
   2. Implement and monitor individual and group interventions in accordance with Mental Health Treatment Plan goals.
   
   
   3. Meet with youth’s treatment team and assess psychoeducational and therapeutic needs.
   
   
   4. Participate in all regularly scheduled in-service programs.
   
   
   5. Follow designated program policy regarding the documentation of critical incidents.
   
   
   6. Assist Mental Health Specialist with completion of Daily Progress Notes (DPNs) as needed.
   
   
   7. Collect and share data on the group effectiveness and record progress for the Mental Health Treatment Plan.
   
   
   8. Administer assessments and complete necessary documentation related to the assessments.
   
   
   9. Develop and facilitate effective/psychoeducational groups and lessons utilizing provided curriculum/materials.
   
   
   10. Follow program schedule of assigned groups.
   
   
   11. Demonstrates a proficient level of cultural sensitivity.
   
   
   12. Serves periodically on program committees, with the approval of the Program Director.
   
   
   
   


2. Risk Management and Safety
   
   
   
   1. Implements school wide policies, procedures, and interventions.
   
   
   2. Understands the threat assessment process.
   
   
   3. Follows designated program policy regarding the documentation of critical incidents.
   
   
   4. Follows program-designated procedures for all physical contact with students.
   
   
   5. Follows program-designated procedures for student illness and injury, including arranging necessary medical care and informing appropriate persons of the situation, and documenting the injury/illness and actions taken.
   
   
   6. Assist other staff, as needed, in interventions (TCI, Ukeru) to protect students and staff from injury.
   
   
   7. Transports students when needed and maintain safe driving procedures.
   
   
   
   


3. Documentation
   
   
   
   1. Complete written work that is accurate and uses professional clinical language.
   
   
   2. Complete record-keeping procedures for team meetings, including preparation of information to report to teammates (e.g., daily group notes).
   
   
   3. Complete daily group notes
   
   
   4. Meet timelines for submitting paperwork.
   
   
   
   


4. Supervision
   
   
   
   1. Receive supervision.
      
      
      
      1. Receive supervision from and actively communicate with supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when possible, in person regarding program matters.
      
      
      
      
   
   
   
   


5. Professional Development
   
   
   
   1. Attends periodically local, state, or national conferences and workshops, with the approval of the Program Director.
   
   
   2. Provides in-service training to Pressley Ridge programs, with the approval of the Program Director.
   
   
   
   

Qualifications  

1. Education/Certifications/Licensure:
   
   
   
   1. Requires a bachelor’s degree in a recognized clinical discipline including social work, psychology, rehabilitation or activity therapies.
   
   
   2. Requires a valid state driver’s license, safe driving record, and current auto insurance.
   
   
   
   


2. Experience:
   
   
   
   1. Requires training and/or experience in mental health services prior to providing services. Requires successful completion of Pressley Ridge's internal training plan, based on prior experience, before being assigned to clients.
   
   
   
   

Working Conditions 

1. Physical Demands:
   
   
   
   1. This position requires operating a keypad device 25% of the day and electronic/office equipment 25% of the day. Travel is required approximately 5 times per month and works in weather conditions about 25% of the day. Travel includes transporting students to and from school, school-based appointments, and/or field trips. Fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, elbows, legs and feet are all routinely used throughout the day. The lower and upper torso is used 75% of the day. Employee must meet minimum requirements for hearing, speech, and vision. Walking is required 50% of the day. Standing occurs 25% of the day. Sitting happens 25% of the day. Reaching above the shoulder as well as bending and twisting are performed 25% of the day. This function routinely lifts 15 pounds, 4 times per day. The maximum lift is 50 pounds, 1 time per day. The position requires the ability to implement physical interventions and meet the physical demands of TCI.
