Job Description - Mental Health Practitioner - Awake Overnight


TITLE: Mental Health Practitioner - Awake Overnight

FLSA STATUS: Full-time, Hourly

HOURS: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 10:30pm-8:30am weekly

**This position comes with a $2.00/hour overnight shift differential.

Bonus***$3,000 hiring bonus - $1000 after first 30 days of successful employment, $1000 after 90 days of employment, and $1000 after 6 months employment***

Purpose: This position is responsible for providing supportive services in a residential setting to individuals who have a serious mental illness and / or substance use disorder.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help individuals served learn how to manage their mental health symptoms, restore wellness and become more independent.
  • Help recipients recognize and use their strengths, build a support system and create crisis/relapse prevention plans.
  • Teach independent living skills, problem-solving skills, effective communication skills and encourage recreational activities that support ongoing wellness.
  • Participate in the screening process for individuals referred to the program, as well as orientation and intakes for new recipients.
  • Communicate with external providers, family members and referral sources for coordination of care in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Overnight staff are responsible for completing light nightly cleaning tasks and ensuring client rooms are thoroughly cleaned and prepared following a discharge from the program. 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all recipients and staff.
  • Provide crisis management by responding to crisis situations promptly, assess and intervene according to procedures.
  • Complete documentation in each recipients’ electronic health record in a timely manner that meets DHS licensing and billing requirements.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., grocery bags, client belongings, etc.)
  • CPR / First Aid Certification OR the ability to attain certification within the first 90 days of employment.

Working Conditions:

  • This position has the potential to come into contact with bodily fluids, communicable diseases, and tobacco smoke.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be qualified as a Mental Health Practitioner as follows: Bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university AND has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness
  • OR has at least 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must not be currently receiving or have received services from Guild Incorporated within the last two years.

The salary range for this position is between $22.00 - $24.00 per hour. The range reflects the minimum and maximum salary for the position. Compensation will depend on the candidate’s professional experience, skills, and relevant education, training, and certifications.
