Mental Health Services Program Coordinator

Full-Time – 37.5 Hours Per Week / 52 Weeks Per Year

Grade 18 - Exempt

Annual Salary Range: $55,120 - $78,450

Scheduled Hours Vary Based On Program Needs

JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates the Mental Health Supportive Housing Program and the Mental Health Transitional Living Program, including the Supervised Residence, Apartment Treatment, and Crisis Bed services. Performs and oversees a variety of administrative and supervisory activities and oversees case management. Carries out all duties according to agency and program policies and procedures and NYS Office of Mental Health regulations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversees the day-to-day operation and activities of the Supported Housing, Apartment Treatment Program, Supervised Residence and Crisis Bed.


• Develops, implements and maintains program policies; maintains required documentation for all components.


• Provides second level supervision to all MHTL staff; performs full direct supervision to Apartment Supervisor, Supervised Residence Supervisor and Supportive Housing Manager.


• Assists Dept. Director, Assistant Director and Financial Manager with budget development and expenditures.


• Assists the Director and Assistant Director with strategic planning process for the program; completes annual program evaluation.


• Reviews and monitors resident funding balances, billing and collections, petty cash ledgers and expenditures for all programs.


• Acts as a qualified mental health staff (QMHS); oversees rehabilitative services to residents.


• Reviews individual service plans and resident records to ensure quality and compliance with OMH regulations and OMIG protocols.


• Ensures accurate data entry into multiple required databases including CAIRS, MHPD, NIMRS, CAPTAIN & PrecisionCare


• Oversees the maintenance of all program facilities.


• Ensures satisfactory exchange of information among staff to provide adequate services.


• Assists in crisis intervention and conflict resolution with clients as needed and with a trauma informed approach.


• Manages incident reports and investigations for the program; reviews with committee.


• Participates in peer groups, work groups and related committees.


• Coordinates Mental Health Services with local government agencies and county planning.


• Ensures staff development.


• Coordinates intake, admission and discharge procedure for consumers.


• Monitors occupant compliance with fire safety and program requirements.


• Ensures compliance with medication administration procedures.


• Ensures adequate staffing and on call coverage at all times.


• Handles ongoing marketing, recruiting and maintains a waiting list.


• Participates in conferences, committees, trainings and work groups for skill enhancement and maintenance.


• Facilitates regular staff meetings and trainings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• 24 hour on-call responsibility; provides and/or ensures adequate coverage.


• Must be able to relate well to the mentally ill population (SMI).


• Must be familiar with and able to implement principles of normalization, philosophies, and techniques of programming.


• Must be organized, resourceful, flexible, and be able to utilize good judgment in dealing with situations that arise.


• Must be able to plan and direct the work of others and be creative in programming for residents.


• Must have the ability to work with others in a warm, professional manner and be a positive role model to clients and staff.


• Must possess a valid NYS Driver's License with good driving record and have access to a reliable vehicle for related travel.


• Must have acceptable health to carry out the responsibilities of the position including the ability to climb stairs.


• Must attend required trainings, conferences and staff meetings as requested for skill enhancement and maintenance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences; and


• Three to five years related experience, three of which must be in a supervisory capacity; or


• Any acceptable combination of experience, education, and training.
