Job Description - Metro Leader Development Educator Consultant III

This position is open internally to all King County employees.
King County Metro Transit has an exciting opportunity for an

Educator Consultant Ill

to support our Organizational Health and Development (OHD) team in Employee Services. This position will report to the Leadership Development Program/Project Manager within our Internal Strategy team. They will work closely with the Learning and Development team to support the implementation of trainings that meets agency and employee needs as well as other teams across the section as needed.
The Educator Consultant Ill will be responsible for curriculum development, coordination, and facilitation of learning engagements in support of building our workforce capacity to do great work and exceed the expectations of the people of King County. This position will support leadership development and skill building programs, and as part of training teams instituting mandatory King County and/or Metro Transit programs. This position will also manage our

Welcome to Metro and Welcome to Employee Services

projects, ensuring new hires experience smooth onboarding to their new roles.

This position will be filled as Special Duty Assignment or Term Limited Temporary employee that is expected to last 9 months and may be extended. This may be used to generate a pool list for future Career Service, Term Limited Temporary (TLT), and Special Duty Assignment (SDA) positions that may occur in this classification. The list would be valid for 12 months upon creation

for use at the discretion of the hiring authority.
This position will support the operations of the Organizational Health & Development Section (OHD), a section within Metro's Employee Services (ES) division. OHD's priority is to ensure that Metro's workplace culture is one that centers wellbeing and belonging. They will work closely with the Senior Policy and Internal Strategy Manager, the Learning and Development team, and Employee Services Division members to cultivate a workplace culture that is rooted in organizational health, equity, and belonging.

Educator Consultant III,

you will:
Contribute to developing long-term strategic direction and plans for education/consultation approaches to leadership development
Design, implement, and facilitate programs and learning engagements, both in person and virtual classroom settings, to increase employees' leadership competency, with a focus on respect, safety, and accountability
Design and develop training series and e-learning modules, incorporating a variety of methods (discussions, coaching, on-the-job exercises, role plays/simulations, games, learning/job aids)
Manage Metro's onboarding course 'Welcome to Metro'
Develop and manage Metro's 'Welcome to Employee Services' onboarding course
Further design and develop aspects of existing curriculum
Engage in consulting that upskills leadership, one-on-one coaching, training, and mentoring for people leaders and employees to cultivate team cultures and behavioral changes designed to enhance respect, safety, accountability, equity and belonging for all
Relationship building with divisions, administrators, trainers, and other King County and Metro stakeholders
Support implementation of mandatory leadership trainings including but not limited to the coordination of attendance, distribution of communications, training schedules, participant materials, and evaluations, and ensure the completion of training evaluations
Support other in-person engagements as requested and prioritized by section and division leadership, in support of Metro's Organizational Health and wellness priorities
Contribute to and support the implementation of OHD section standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Minimum of three years' experience designing curricula, coordinating programs, and facilitating intergroup training or education courses

OR

any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the work.
We are looking for candidates who also have:
Demonstrated understanding of key concepts in onboarding, leadership, equity and social justice education around topics of race and racism, gender, ability, protected classes, the intersectionality of identities, and other topics
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and presentation skills, including the effective use of visuals and graphics in communication
Excellent facilitation skills to create safe and accessible learning environments
Experience and passion for organizing, managing, and delivering both virtual and in-person training
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups with varying opinions and backgrounds
Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and/or programs, including planning, strategy, implementation, marketing, and evaluation
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint
Proficiency in Zoom or other instructional platforms to facilitate online in real time
Proficiency in Monday.com or other project management platforms
Ability to take initiative, troubleshoot, and identify improvements
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information on sensitive projects
Ability to work with and provide exceptional customer service to other employees
Comfort and flexibility in navigating a complex political environment while managing multiple competing priorities.
Ability to understand basic technical concepts and explain them in simple terms.
Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities
Competitive candidates will have (not required)
Bachelor's Degree or certifications, and/or professional experience in adult learning methods, Instructional Design, or related fields
Advanced skills in Zoom, E-learning tools, SharePoint, Teams, Monday.com, Canva and Visio
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Travel to work locations throughout King County with limited or no public transportation services is required. A valid Washington State Driver's License is required to operate King County vehicles.
Some licenses, certifications, and other requirements determined to be necessary to meet the business needs of the employing unit may be required.

Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to be mobile, and perform manual tasks, including lifting materials weighing up to 20 pounds, such as boxes of printed materials.

Work Location and Schedule:
This is a hybrid position. The main work site for this position is King Street Center, 201 S Jackson St., Seattle, WA 98104.
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and not overtime-eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a workweek typically 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Employees may be required to work early mornings or evenings depending on business needs.
