Job Description - Metrologist

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Develop, implement, and improve quality plans (PCS)


Support manufacturing and quality teams with dimensional measurement strategies for complex machined components and assemblies.


Identify gaging needs in collaboration with engineering and production, and coordinate procurement


Support Senior Quality Specialist with control of calibrated gages


Assist Senior Metrologist and Senior CMM programmer with CMM programming, prove-out, and hardware/accessory procurement


Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including Gage R&R studies, bias, linearity, and stability evaluations.


Troubleshoot measurement discrepancies and identify root causes related to equipment, methods, environmental conditions, or operator technique.


Develop, document, and improve metrology procedures, work instructions, and best practices.


Drive continuous improvement through utilization of CIRCOR Operating System (COS) tools


 


CANDIDATE PROFILE


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


- Demonstrates strong working knowledge of interpreting drawings, including knowledge of GD&T
- Working experience with writing quality procedures
- Experience with operating Hexagon and FARO equipment
- Experience with mechanical inspection equipment such as height gages, dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Experience with programming CMMs, PCDMIS preferred
- Problem Solving: Solves problems using systematic analysis processes and industry-standard methodologies
- Demonstrates knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and applications
- Analyzes measurement processes throughout the traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty.
- Interpret ASTM, Military, DFARS and FAR specifications
- Must be able to meet tight deadlines, be detail oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to collaborate across business functions to achieve results


 


Education & Experience


- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or a technical field required or relevant combination of education and direct experience.
- Requires 2-5 years of experience in quality engineering, including understanding of quality concepts and principles.
- ASQ certification (or equivalent) preferred
