JOB SUMMARY: 

The Energy Efficiency Manager is responsible for leading a team to implement the Georgia Public Service Commission approved Commercial Energy Efficiency programs and initiatives across the state to meet regulated targets within budgets. This requires direct leadership of internal and external teams, innovating within a regulated framework, budgeting and forecasting, contracting and vendor accountability, strategic direction, risk management, and motivating others to strategically drive results.   

 

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead a team of Program Managers, Analysts, and external vendors to implement the energy efficiency and demand reduction programs and initiatives that were approved in the 2025 Georgia Power Integrated Resource Plan.
  • Ensure programs are executed in full compliance with Commission Orders, approved DSM Plans, internal controls, and cost-effectiveness requirements while achieving mandated kWh energy savings, kW demand reduction, participation targets, and customer satisfaction outcomes within approved budgets.
  • Effectively manage a team, establish an engaging work environment by motivating others to achieve desired goals, collaborate with multi-disciplinary partners, and provide candid feedback and address performance issues expeditiously. 
  • Govern multi-year budget planning, pacing, and risk management to align savings delivery with approved budgets.
  • Partner with internal teams (Regulatory, Legal, Supply Chain, Budgeting, EM&V, Corporate Affairs, Account Management, External, etc.) to protect Georgia Power’s regulatory posture and promote program opportunities.
  • Maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction through problem-solving, market intelligence, and continuous improvement. 
  • Lead vendor contract development, onboard vendors when needed, establish infrastructure to support programs, and implement a strategic business plan to meet objectives and goals. 
  • Assess and mitigate risk by overseeing quality assurance and verification strategies, ensuring vendors are held accountable to perform in accordance with contracts and in compliance with the filed energy efficiency program implementation plans. 
  • Communicate program progress, performance trends, and emerging risks to leadership and stakeholders both formally and informally with clear and accurate details.
  • Assist with program design and evaluation efforts by engaging with the Southern Company Design and Evaluation team to provide valuable feedback and drive success. 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Education & Experience 

  • 4-year accredited degree with additional consideration given for advanced degrees and/or relevant industry certifications including CDSM, CEM, and BPI.
  • At least 5 years with DSM or comparable regulated program implementation 
  • Strong project and/or program management including budgeting, forecasting, and the ability to develop and implement effective workflow processes. 
  • Overseeing multi-program portfolios with substantial financial, regulatory, and performance accountability.
  • Leading or influencing across multiple organizations to achieve effective outcomes, regardless of the reporting relationship. 
  • Reviewing and editing legal agreements and holding third-party vendors accountable to service level agreements and contract compliance.

  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment across multiple teams, with experience prioritizing time-sensitive projects and producing quality results. 
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and visual/graphical) and can effectively present to internal peers, leadership, and external partners. 
  • Strategic and creative problem-solving skills to improve processes and a proven track record of demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving around complex issues. 
  • Ability to effectively manage and lead through change in a dynamic business environment.
  • High comfort level with technology and leveraging data to inform decisions.
