Job Summary

Under general supervision, operates digital scanning units and inspects all film being scanned by the Administrative Services Digital Archives Department by performing the following duties.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions

  • Scan County records and documents.
  • Prepare incoming records and documents for scanning, by organizing them in the correct order, removing paperclips, and ensuring that they are fit for scanning.
  • Make any necessary edits to improve scan quality and generate file names to improve searchability.
  • Upload scanned records and documents to the appropriate location within the dedicated server.
  • Identify scanner malfunctions and perform minor repairs and perform regular maintenance of scanning equipment.
  • Train new and existing employees on current applications and hardware job functions.
  • Assist other internal departments as needed when workload permits.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Skill in digital scanning, file management, document organization. Advanced knowledge of scanning applications and equipment, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.

Knowledge of daily maintenance of scanning equipment and of performing minor equipment repairs.

Ability to deal tactfully with others. Ability to understand, follow, and deliver oral and written instructions.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of digital scanning, internet, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED and over one year full-time paid employment in records management including microfilming, digital scanning, records archiving, or related work.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Valid Driver’s License or State ID Card
