Middle School Model UN Coach/Sponsor

Bennett Day School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Model UN Coach/Sponsor for our middle school club. This is a part-time, stipend role renewed each trimester.

As the Model UN Coach/Sponsor, you'll lead our weekly club meetings and guide students in developing their research, public speaking, debate, and negotiation skills. You'll also prepare them for and accompany them to local Model UN competition(s). This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire students to become informed and engaged global citizens. 

Coaches/Sponsors also cultivate strong character, sportsmanship, and teamwork among their delegates. By working closely with each student, a coach aims to not only foster a deep appreciation for international relations and diplomacy but also to shape positive habits and attitudes that will extend far beyond Model UN conferences. This approach encourages lifelong personal growth and achievement in all aspects of the students' lives.

Responsibilities:

• Lead weekly Model UN club meetings (Wednesdays, 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM).
• Develop and implement engaging lessons on UN procedures, international relations, and current events.
• Guide students in researching countries, global issues, and writing position papers.
• Facilitate practice debates and simulations to hone students' public speaking and negotiation skills.
• Prepare students for participation in local middle school Model UN competitions.
• Attend and supervise students at Model UN competitions (dates and times to be determined).
• Foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment for all club members.

• Experience working with Middle School students is highly preferred
• Prior experience with Model UN (as a participant or coach) is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of international relations, current events, and global issues.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate middle school students.
• A commitment to fostering critical thinking and respectful dialogue.
