Job Description - Middle School Pastor

Middle School Director



Compensation:     40 Hours per week


Office Hours:        Lynden NCCTK office hours Monday-Thursday 9:00-4:00, 4:00-approx 8:30


                               Tuesday afternoon/evenings, 8:00-1:00 Sundays, work from home as needed


Reports to:            Youth Pastor



Overview of Position



This team member will lead the Middle School volunteers, and students in creating an environment, events, and experiences that connect students to Jesus, church, and community, and in helping to make their faith a real part of their everyday life by loving God and loving people. They will support parents to disciple and lead their students within the home.



They must regularly attend NCCTK with a commitment to personal prayer and Bible study.



Essential Responsibilities



SUPPORT AND CARE FOR NORTH COUNTY YOUTH VOLUNTEER TEAMS




  • Identify and recruit leaders who are relatable to students, love Jesus, and have a desire to see students love Him as well

  • Partner with the Youth Pastor to equip, train, and empower leaders to own their role in the life of their students

  • Continually encourage, motivate, and care for volunteers and leaders



SUPPORT AND CARE FOR NCCTK STUDENTS AND FAMILIES




  • Be available for students and parents to support the discipleship and development of their families as needed

  • Meet with students and parents and direct them to relevant certified counselors as needed

  • Connect with students both inside and outside of ministry events to maintain relationships, trust, and influence



LEAD AND PARTNER WITH THE NORTH COUNTY YOUTH STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS TO EXECUTE EXCEPTIONAL MIDWEEK EXPERIENCES AND EVENTS




  • Intentionally create and facilitate an environment that is focused on connecting students to Jesus and community, memorable, and programmed to be relevant to their day to day lives

  • Create an environment that is loving and welcoming to all students whether they have been churched their entire life or it is their first time

  • Ensure the right students get in the right groups, led by the right leader

  • Collaborate with the Youth Pastor to plan and implement program and events that are fun, engaging, and serve the mission of NCCTK Youth Ministries



COLLABORATE WITH NORTH COUNTY CHRIST THE KING STAFF TO REACH OUR COMMUNITY AND LEAD THE CHURCH WITH EXCELLENCE




  • Lead Sunday Middle School Bible study during NCCTK Worship Service times



  • Work alongside the middle/high school Youth Ministries staff (Youth Ministries Coordinator and Assistant)

  • Support other ministry areas by recruiting students for serving roles

  • Direct students to next steps, including baptism, SHAPE, serving, and investing

  • Support the growth of NCCTK by encouraging students and families to attend Sunday services

  • Participate in and serve at NCCTK events as needed

  • Support community events held at NCCTK as needed

  • Attend Student ministry team meetings and weekly all-staff meetings

  • Steward the Middle School Youth Ministries budget with excellence



Qualifications & Skills




  • Possess a personal and growing relationship with Jesus.

  • Knowledgeable in student ministry and loves to see students discipled as they become real with themselves and Jesus.

  • Able to communicate and relate well with others, effectively engaging in spiritual conversations with students and parents.

  • Able to respect confidentiality and sensitive information.

  • Experienced in developing and motivating adults and students to become leaders.

  • Skilled at recruiting, training, and leading volunteers and student leaders

  • Able and willing to cooperate and support the youth ministries staff in their roles and growth.

  • Organized and able to oversee/manage multiple technical components at the same time. Detail oriented with the capacity to see the big picture.

  • A self-starter: flexible and adaptable to new situations and needs, proposing new ways to modify and improve systems. Obedient to the direction of the Holy Spirit regardless of personal desire.

  • Possess the ability to patiently support leadership, team members and ministries as priorities shift under tight deadlines

  • Able to work well with others, resolving conflicts quickly and in a God-pleasing fashion, exhibiting a positive attitude, accepting suggestions and correction with grace and patience, and enjoying working with a team.

  • Experienced with social media platforms to engage with students and families

  • Internet navigation experience, especially with the Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs) and either Apple or Microsoft operating systems
