POSITION OVERVIEW:
At KIPP DC, we believe that students thrive academically and socially in environments where there are high and clear expectations and where students are celebrated and authentically acknowledged and praised for their positive choices and contributions to our community. We know that proactively building positive culture in schools is essential for student academic and social growth as well as the growth of executive functioning skills. We also believe that the use of restorative practices are essential for students’ growth and well-being and are an integral part of a positive school culture. It is our job to support students in problem solving, building, maintaining and repairing relationships, and making positive choices. We support students through the use of restoration and logical consequences. We know that “if, then” ultimatums and punishment are not useful tools for student growth and fulfillment.
