Middle School SDC Teacher
Location: Laurel, MD, 20723
Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education and behavioral programs for each assigned student in consultation with other relevant staff and professionals.


• Develop Individualized Education Plans for students.


• Prepare quarterly report cards, mid-quarter reports, and IEP progress report narratives.


• Maintain communication with students' parents/guardians, relevant staff, and outside professionals.


• Manage classroom budget and report expenditures to supervisor.


• Evaluate students' current levels of academic and behavioral functioning and make necessary program adjustments.


• Select appropriate instructional materials and strategies based on the curriculum to implement IEP goals and objectives.


• Organize classroom furniture and equipment to foster a positive learning environment.


• Supervise students throughout the day to ensure safety, including bus and playground duty.


• Implement individual and group behavior management programs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.


• Minimum qualifications for a Provisional Certificate in special education at the appropriate level, or content area.


• Experience in special education or a related field is preferred.
