The Department of Military Affairs is looking to hire a Military Environmental Specialist located at the Capital Airbase in Springfield. Under general supervision of the Base Environmental Coordinator, responsible for technical and administrative requirements within the Environmental Management Office (EMO) for base-wide management of hazardous waste, used oil, recycling programs and to assist in pollution prevention efforts and compliance requirements for all environmental permits in force.
Serves as the base-wide point of contact for recycling of paper products, precious and semi- precious metals, cardboard, plastics, and glass including the establishment of a fund cite from the DRMO for non-appropriated funds recovery and proper adherence to Air Force instructions pertaining to a Qualified Recycling Plan.
Samples point source discharges base wide and evaluates laboratory data to determine compliance with the pre-treatment limitations listed in the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination (NPDES) permit.
Formulates required air emissions inventory and identifies new sources in accordance with air force Directives.
