Milieu Lead - 1st shift

We are hiring a dynamic Milieu Lead - 1st shift for the Aspen House in Mendota Heights, MN! This role ensures high-quality care for youth and families through effective staff leadership, program coordination, and service delivery.

The Aspen House is a community-based facility for teens in Dakota and Washington counties who temporarily need a safe place to live. Youth in our care have private bedrooms and access to mental health and educational services during their stay and is staffed 24/7. We serve displaced youth ages 11-18 and pride ourselves on being a restraint-free facility. Aspen House not only provides temporary housing but also incorporates mental health assessments and services, recreational activities, educational instruction, coordination with outside supports, stabilization services, and on-going connections with family support systems.

Schedule, Location & Pay:

• Full time, 40 hours per week
• 7am-3:30pm shift, some weekends
• $22 per hour, non-exempt position
• Onsite in Mendota Heights, MN

Position Summary: The Milieu Lead is responsible for leading and ensuring that the daily programming of the milieu is carried out in a safe and productive manner by leading the shift, providing mentoring and coaching of team members, ensuring effective interventions are implemented, supporting and ensuring that all care professionals are proactively following youth Individual and Family Guidance Plans and that the team is working toward youth treatment goals and supporting a trauma-informed milieu environment. 

Primary responsibilities:

• Trauma-Informed Leadership: Model and mentor trauma-responsive care practices; support staff development and training.
• Milieu Coordination: Lead daily routines, maintain a positive culture, and guide staff in therapeutic interventions.
• Policy & Safety Compliance: Uphold agency standards, ensure emotional and physical safety, and support de-escalation techniques.
• Documentation & Licensing: Ensure shift duties and documentation meet licensing and accreditation standards.
• Team Support: Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and recognition to staff; collaborate with clinical teams and families.

Required Education, Experience and Licensure:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and some previous work experience. 
• Valid driver’s license required. Maintains state regulating agency and company driving requirements. 

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a social work, psychology, or clinically related field preferred. 
• 2yrs. previous residential and youth mental health experience strongly preferred.
