Mill Accountant

Summary

Perform accounting functions for Daybreak Foods and New Day Farms. Perform duties as part of the mill accounting team for all locations primarily consisting of reporting on grain purchases and usage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process grain purchases on a weekly basis


• Maintain daily position report for all mill locations  


• Calculate feed usage and cost by barn for all farms


• Maintain documentation required by state departments of agriculture


• Monthly inventory report preparation


• Various monthly accruals and reconciliations     


• Invoice customers for manure deliveries


• Assist with preparation of audit workpapers   


• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders


• Assist the accounting manager as needed


• Additional responsibilities as position evolves

Education and/or Experience

•   Minimum of a Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business or a related discipline

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  Intermediate level accounting knowledge
  Working knowledge of the basic concepts of office workflow
  Strong organizational and time management skills
  Polished and flexible interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve objectives
  Strong detail orientation
  Strong customer service ethic and orientation

Physical Demands

Sit, use keyboard, use fine manipulation with hands and fingers. Lift up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

Clean, temperature-controlled environment. Noise level is low. No personal protective equipment needed.
